John,
There are two bills in Congress related to voting rights that we need to take action on – one is really good, and the other is really, really bad.
Let’s start with the bad. The American Confidence in Elections Act (ACE), aka the “Big Lie Bill,” is part of a troubling trend of voter suppression sweeping the country. This extremist legislation would impose burdens on voting and seeks to:
Impose a voter ID requirement and eliminate same-day voter registration
Boost the influence of billionaires and corporations in our elections
Place unnecessary restrictions on vote-by-mail
Eliminate safeguards intended to keep poll watchers from intimidating voters and election workersIf passed, this bill would undermine Americans' voices and empower corporate special interests.
Take action today and sign the petition urging Congress to reject the “Big Lie Bill!”

STOP THE “BIG LIE BILL”

Now for the good news. The Freedom to Vote Act, a comprehensive voting rights bill, was recently reintroduced in Congress to bring transparency to our electoral process. This legislation would:
Protect and expand the right to vote
Counteract the harmful effects of money in politics and reduce the influence of wealthy special interest groups
Modernize our voting systems
Sign the petition urging Congress to pass the Freedom to Vote Act and end voter suppression.

Passing this critical bill would make voting systems more accessible and reliable – including measures like automatic voter registration, expanded early voting, and protections against discriminatory voter ID laws.
FREEDOM TO VOTE!

Every eligible voter, regardless of their background or circumstances, should be able to participate in our democracy. After signing these two important petitions, will you take the next step and make a gift to Food & Water Action today to help elect climate champions and turn out more voters in 2024?
