John, I've never been shy about my stance on immigration reform, and neither has the GOP – that's been made clear by how they talk about people like my parents and my husband.
But they've also never been shy about how they feel about me – a freshman who's built a reputation for calling them out when they're wrong.
That was made even more clear this month, when a member of the GOP "mistakenly" referred to me as "Mrs. Garcia".

John, this isn't the first time someone has called me something that wasn't my name. But in this space, as a member of Congress for over six months – and the only one coming from a mixed-status household – this is what is clear to me:
The GOP has no respect for people like me or our vision for comprehensive immigration reform. Instead, they would rather instill fear and hate into the hearts of the American people.
And I have no doubt that because of my reputation, because of the things I stand for, Republicans have their sights set on my seat in 2024.
