John,
We’re going all out on a week of action to keep Congress from passing bills that would restrict everyone's rights online. Can you chip in right now to help keep these bad internet bills from passing?
STOP BAD INTERNET BILLS
BACKGROUND: Lawmakers love to pull out the “save the children!” line when it works for them—especially when they want to pass laws that would expand censorship and surveillance. That’s what’s happening right now: Congress is trying to push through a swarm of harmful internet bills that would severely impact human rights and expand surveillance and censorship on the internet.1
To fight back, we’re organizing a week of action to ramp up opposition to KOSA, EARN IT Act, the RESTRICT Act, STOP CSAM, COOPER DAVIS, and bills trying to age-gate online content.2 Instead of pushing these deeply flawed bills, we need Congress to focus on passing comprehensive privacy legislation to actually protect us from the harms of big tech companies and data brokers.
If you can, donate to help ramp up the fight to stop KOSA, EARN IT, and more!
Here are some of our Week of Action Plans:
☑️ Activating creators, young people, and marginalized communities who will be hit hardest if these bills pass
☑️ Getting press to cover these perspectives and highlight the opposition
☑️ Spreading info across the internet—listservs, Slack channels, Reddit, Tumblr, Bluesky, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Nostr, Mastodon, YouTube, TikTok, Twitch, Substack—we’re rallying all the online communities to take action
☑️ Coordinating and growing a national coalition of organizations that oppose these bills
☑️ Meeting with lawmakers and shoring up champions who will fight for our rights
We’re getting the full Fight for the Future team involved in this week of action, and we need you on the team too. Every dollar donated will help support more actions to stop these terrible bills. Please donate now.
Let’s fight together to make the internet better,
Caitlin, Fight for the Future
