[link removed] [[link removed]] John,

It’s hard to overstate how crucial an era in political ethics this is. America faces Donald Trump’s looming January 6th-related indictments, unfolding Supreme Court scandals, and constant new revelations about the influence of dark money across our political system. Here at CREW, even as we’re preparing to take the enormous legal step of enforcing Trump’s disqualification from office—we’re not moving on from all our other fights.

Our latest collection of reports and investigations may be the most groundbreaking yet: CREW’s comprehensive new report laying out the case for Trump’s disqualification under the 14th Amendment [[link removed]] is almost 100 pages, and it explains why the Constitution legally bars Trump from holding office ever again. The legal action we’re preparing to take is based on the findings we lay out in this report.

We also dug through historical records and found that at least eight public officials have been formally adjudicated to be disqualified and barred from public office [[link removed]] under Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment since it was ratified in 1868. And to make the case against Trump even stronger, we counted 174 Jan. 6th criminal defendants who have said that the reason they participated in the attack on the Capitol was because Trump called on them to be there [[link removed]] —our report was covered in five different news outlets including on prime-time MSNBC.

In the lead up to Trump’s likely indictment for his efforts to overturn the 2020 election, we laid out just what we can expect in those criminal charges. [[link removed]] CREW president and former federal prosecutor Noah Bookbinder is a leading voice on the matter of the indictment: he co-wrote an op-ed in the Los Angeles Times explaining that there’s more than enough evidence to convict Trump [[link removed]] and appeared on MSNBC’s All in With Chris Hayes to discuss the potential prosecution.

We’re bringing light to Trump’s other legal troubles, too, explaining how we know he’s lying about the Presidential Records Act [[link removed]] in an attempt to defend and distract from his mishandling of classified government documents. And TIME spoke to Bookbinder about why Trump’s bid to delay his classified documents trial until after the election could've worked. [[link removed]]

Beyond our efforts on Donald Trump, we also sent a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee in support of the Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal and Transparency Act [[link removed]] , which would bring needed transparency and accountability to the Supreme Court by creating a recusal and disclosure system. The bill passed out of committee last week, which is great news. We also sent testimony to the House Committee on Financial Services in support of fully implementing the Corporate Transparency Act [[link removed]] , which would bolster corporate transparency laws and empower law enforcement to fight money laundering and terrorist financing.

We’re also tracking stories about how Mike Pence made more than $7 million since 2022 [[link removed]] , a GOP presidential candidate offered $20 gift cards for $1 donations [[link removed]] , and George Santos mysteriously received over $150,000 from mostly first-time donors. [[link removed]]

We’re stopping here not because that’s all we’ve done in the past couple of weeks—it’s not! But we need to wrap it up so this email doesn’t get too long. If you took a few minutes today to read some of our work—or just about our work—we hope you’ll consider making a matched donation today to support it.
