Accomplice to Cartel Crime:
How Biden and Mayorkas’ Open Border Has Advanced Cartel Crime
Statement of Jessica M. Vaughan before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Homeland Security
Excerpt:The mass migration crisis instigated by the Biden administration’s misguided immigration policies has caused incalculable harm to American communities, to the integrity of our immigration system, and, tragically, to many of the migrants themselves. While there are a number of beneficiaries of these policies, including employers seeking cheap, exploitable workers; NGOs who are awarded huge contracts to provide services to migrants; and politicians who welcome the addition of non-citizen constituents to their districts, to name a few, the biggest winners under the Biden-Mayorkas policies are the criminal cartels and other transnational criminal organizations who are reaping profits on a nearly unimaginable scale.

By George Fishman
July 17, 2023
Excerpt: The acts at the heart of these shocking allegations (if proven) would seemingly constitute criminal violations of the federal anti-alien-smuggling law, violations that carry with them potential punishment from a fine or one year’s imprisonment to life imprisonment or even the death penalty.

California Dreamin': Can State Universities Legally Hire Non-Work Authorized Aliens
By George Fishman
Journal of College and University Law, Vol. 48, No. 1
Excerpt: A notable group of immigration law professors has assured California that it can allow its state universities to hire aliens not authorized to work under federal law, concluding that the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986’s “prohibition on hiring undocumented
persons [known as employer sanctions] does not bind state government entities”. I conclude that the professors’ first argument is incorrect.

Mayorkas Flouts Congress, Invents More ‘Legal’ Immigration Pathways
By Jason Richwine
National Review, July 18, 2023
Excerpt: Earlier this month the Department of Homeland Security under Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas introduced additional “family reunification parole” programs, which allow certain foreign nationals with relatives in the U.S. to come here immediately rather than wait for a family-based immigrant visa. It’s yet another lawless action taken under the guise of promoting legal immigration.

By Don Barnett
Washington Times, July 12, 2023
Excerpt: The administration has revamped U.S. immigration without legislation and handed Congress a fait accompli. It is no longer about who should be let in and who should be kept out. It is about getting one giant step closer to open borders.

Under What Circumstances Does a State Government Get a Financial Reward when an Alien Receives a Green Card?
By David North
Excerpt: State governments are usually losers when it comes to immigration matters; they routinely have to pick up substantial educational, welfare, and healthcare costs for low-income migrants, legal and illegal. But in one highly specialized case, one state government stands to obtain $62,500 for each set of green cards issued to one of a set of families suing it. That’s a total of $4 million. What’s going on?

By Andrew R. Arthur
