Yesterday was Presidents' Day -- a day we set aside to honor the past presidents that have guided our nation through times of both darkness and prosperity.
Looking back on our history, I am grateful for the leadership of great presidents like Washington, Lincoln, Roosevelt, and of course, Obama. These are presidents who have honored their duty to the American people and respected the sanctity of the office. And I am thankful that our great nation has benefitted from their steady direction.
Sadly, not all presidents are cut from the same cloth. Those great leaders stand in sharp contrast to our current president. Donald Trump is someone who ignores his duty, corrupts our values, and demeans the American people. His actions have been so disgraceful I was proud to help make him the third president ever to be impeached.
And while the Senate failed to remove him from office, it is in our power as American citizens to stand together at the ballot box and remove him from that great office. Together, we can elect a president who works to unite our people and create a better and more just society for all.
In times like these, we must remember it is in our power to continue the great American tradition of fighting for what we believe in. Whether it means finding accessible and affordable healthcare solutions for our country, guaranteeing high-quality education for our children, or creating good-paying jobs for American workers and their families -- I want you to know that I will never stop fighting for you.
So yesterday, on Presidents' Day, I hope you took a moment to remember and honor our past leaders. And today, let’s continue our fight for progress together.
In solidarity,
