It's been almost 15 YEARS since we have raised the federal minimum wage, John. And today, 20 states have a minimum wage of less than or equal to $7.25.

Let me make this very clear: Every worker in America deserves a living wage.

We have a situation where people work 40, 50, 60+ hours a week and still struggle to afford the basic necessities. It's unconscionable that our extremely wealthy nation continues to neglect the many families struggling daily to survive.

Raising the minimum wage to $15 is a start. It would deliver wage increases to workers across the country, bring families out of poverty, and guide us toward greater racial and economic justice. But we must also improve overall worker conditions and protections and strengthen union membership across industries.
