NAFCU Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Greg Mesack joined other financial services industry leaders to brief House Republican staffers on the harmful impacts of proposed interchange legislation, which aims to apply the Durbin Amendment’s debit interchange network routing requirements to credit cards.
NAFCU will welcome political strategist, commentator, and former Interim Chair of the Democratic National Committee Donna Brazile alongside former Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour as the 2023 Congressional Caucus keynote speakers. Brazile and Barbour are high-powered political minds and will break down the major issues of the day. Together, they’ll discuss the American political scene, the state of the country, and the upcoming general election.
NAFCU and CUNA Friday detailed ways to improve the Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Fund’s Certification Application and Certification Agreement as the fund continues to work through revisions to the application and process. The CDFI Fund is expected to release the updated application and begin accepting new applications this fall.
Congress remains in session this week with the Senate working to wrap up the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) before the August recess. In addition, NAFCU will monitor the House Financial Services Committee’s Wednesday markup of cryptocurrency legislation, as well as a Senate Banking Committee hearing happening Wednesday that is set to review fees and other charges impacting consumers.
