Israeli President Isaac Herzog
You may have seen that this week Israeli President Isaac Herzog came to D.C. and addressed a joint session of Congress. Israel is America's strongest ally in the Middle East and I really enjoyed hearing the President speak about our important relationship.
Unfortunately, not every Member of Congress feels the same way. A number of colleagues on the other side of the aisle have made disgustingly anti-Semitic remarks, most recently calling Israel a racist state. Ahead of President Herzog's visit, the House passed a resolution stating that "Israel is not a racist or apartheid stat," that "Congress rejects all forms of antisemitism and xenophobia," and "the United States will always be a staunch supporter of Israel." It was deeply upsetting to see that there were people within our own Minnesota delegation who did not vote for this resolution and who do not stand up against anti-Semitic speech.
