Dear John:

Last week, the House passed the National Defense Authorization Act, which authorizes funding levels and provides authorities for the U.S. military and other critical defense priorities. This year's authorization successfully pushed back against woke liberal policies like tax-payer funded Critical Race Theory, abortion transportation services, and gender transition surgery. The bill also supports a 5.2% increase in servicemember basic pay and makes our armed forces stronger and more prepared.

I'm proud to be a part of a House Majority that understands the importance of prioritizing the defense and readiness of this nation over the left's social priorities, which do not strengthen our force.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog

You may have seen that this week Israeli President Isaac Herzog came to D.C. and addressed a joint session of Congress. Israel is America's strongest ally in the Middle East and I really enjoyed hearing the President speak about our important relationship.

Unfortunately, not every Member of Congress feels the same way. A number of colleagues on the other side of the aisle have made disgustingly anti-Semitic remarks, most recently calling Israel a racist state. Ahead of President Herzog's visit, the House passed a resolution stating that "Israel is not a racist or apartheid stat," that "Congress rejects all forms of antisemitism and xenophobia," and "the United States will always be a staunch supporter of Israel." It was deeply upsetting to see that there were people within our own Minnesota delegation who did not vote for this resolution and who do not stand up against anti-Semitic speech.

Feeding Our Future Fraud

This week, I joined Congressman Brad Finstad, House Education and the Workforce Chairwoman Virginia Foxx, House Agriculture Committee Chairman Glenn “G.T.” Thompson, and House Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer in sending a follow-up letter to Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, reiterating our request for USDA to provide information on the mismanagement of its child nutrition programs that led to the exploitation of millions of dollars during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It has been almost ten months since we reached out to Secretary Vilsack to address what has been called the largest pandemic fraud in the country. Since then, even more people have been charged with defrauding the U.S. Department of Agriculture, stealing millions of taxpayer dollars at the expense of hungry children in Minnesota. I hope the Secretary swiftly addresses our concerns and prevents anything like this from ever happening again.
