John - Ohio is the next battleground for the fight to keep right wing extremists out of our reproductive healthcare decisions and out of our bedrooms.

On August 8, voters across the state will vote on a vaguely-worded referendum that would increase the threshold of the total vote needed to amend the state constitution from a simple majority to a 60% supermajority. “Issue 1” is designed to undermine democracy and thwart the will of the majority in Ohio.

But make no mistake, what’s actually on the ballot in this August special election is much more than how Ohioans amend their state Constitution: abortion rights are the true target of this underhanded campaign. Republicans are using this playbook in every state and they must be stopped. This anti-democratic campaign is being funded by GOP anti-abortion activists and out-of-state right wing billionaires in a clumsy attempt to make it more difficult for voters to enshrine abortion rights protections directly into the Ohio state Constitution.

I pledge to do everything that I can to protect abortion rights and rally the voters of my district to defeat this insidious proposal on August 8.
