John,
Good afternoon and welcome to our Weekend
Update.
I want to begin this week's update by
discussing the many controversies surrounding the Biden
administration.
“I think that there's no doubt about
the seriousness of the problem we've got. We have a cancer within –
close to the presidency, that's growing. It's growing daily.”
While that quote is from the Watergate
scandal, the American people have begun applying it to current White
House circumstances. A Republican majority is the only reason
investigations and oversight are being conducted. I addressed the
growing controversies on the floor of the U.S. House. Click
here or below to view my remarks.
Earlier this week, I joined “Mornings
with Maria” on Fox Business to discuss the current state of
the economy under this administration. “Bidenomics” is nothing more
than excessive spending and an assault on our domestic energy
industry, which is causing inflation. We also discussed John Kerry’s
climate trip to China. Click
here or below to watch.
Additionally, I joined “Wake Up America”
on Newsmax to discuss “Bidenomics” and the weaponization of
the Department of Justice. Bidenomics is the inverse of Trumpenomics.
In 2019, Under President Trump, inflation wasn’t a factor, we had
low-interest rates and low unemployment, and all sectors of the
economy were doing well because of tax cuts and pro-growth
initiatives. Bidenomics has killed our economy. Click

The SEC’s pace of rulemaking, limited
comment periods, aggressive implementation timelines, and lack of
responsiveness to Congressional inquiries is troubling. This week, I
questioned the Director of the SEC’s Division of Corporation Finance
about these concerns. Click
here or below to watch my remarks.
The Small Business Committee is thankful
for the SBA Inspector General’s work investigating potential fraud in
COVID relief programs and efforts to track down and recover the money
from those who committed fraud. I supported legislation that requires
the Inspector General to continue to update Congress on his
investigations. Click
here to watch my comments.
My fellow Republican colleagues on the
House Financial Services Committee and I continue to push federal
agencies to keep small businesses in mind when proposing rules. We are
seeing another example of how hastily written regulations overlook the
backbone of America. Click
here or below to watch.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog addressed
a joint session of Congress. He discussed the longstanding partnership
between our two nations and the importance of keeping our relationship
strong. We must stand with our great ally Israel.
I joined my colleagues in helping to
celebrate Rep. Andy Barr's (R-KY) 50th Birthday this week. Rep. Barr
is a patriot, and serving alongside him in Washington is an honor. I
am pictured below with Majority Leader Steve Scalise and Rep.
Barr.
IN NEWS YOU WON’T HEAR IN THE
MAINSTREAM MEDIA: Costs are not “Lower” under
“Bidenomics.”
Joe Biden keeps on lying about the
economy. Today, he claimed costs are “lower” as a result of
“Bidenomics.”
Absurd, and our expert fact-checkers
at FactCheckBiden.com are
having none of it. Check out their most
recent fact check on how costs are NOT “lower” under Joe
Biden.
Despite his
claim to the contrary earlier today, costs are not “lower”
under Biden. In fact, “Bidenomics” has led to a 16.6
percent increase in everyday costs for hard-working
Americans.
- Americans are suffering from the lasting effects of Biden’s
historically high inflation, with many unable to pay bills, save for
retirement, or afford rent.
- On a year-over-year basis, inflation under Biden has averaged
6.2 percent – more than double the level of inflation seen under
any of the last four presidents.
- June’s Consumer Price Index is more
than twice the rate it was when Biden took office.
- Americans are increasingly borrowing to cover daily expenses,
finding their regular income is no longer enough to make ends
meet.
- Nearly 25 million Americans are behind on
their credit cards, auto loans, or personal loans – a number not seen
since 2009.
- If Biden wanted lower
wages and higher costs, his “Bidenomics” is working.
Bidenomics means higher taxes, excessive
spending, $367 billion in new burdensome regulations with no
pro-growth initiatives, an assault on American energy, and the highest
inflation in 41 years. Claims that inflation is down are misleadingly
predicated on last year’s inflated baseline of 9.1%. Inflation rose an
additional 3% this year, and Americans are paying, on average, 12.1%
more than they were in 2021. Prices remain high; Bidenomics is failing
America.
Around the
District:
I joined the Wyoming County Chamber of
Commerce for their Midsummer Mingle. It was a great event, and I want
to acknowledge Wyoming County Chamber President Gina Severcool Suydam.
Pictured below (L-R) are Mike Marablle, Bill Desrosiers of Coterra
Energy, Susquehanna County Commissioner Judy Herschel, Wyoming County
District Attorney Joe Peters, Wyoming County Chamber President Gina
Severcool Suydam, Victoria Naro Rogers from America250PA, State
Representative Tina Pickett, Director of External Affairs at Coterra
Energy George Stark, and Wyoming County Commissioner and America250PA
County Advisory Committee Member Tom Henry.
We look forward to catching up with you
next week. God Bless, and see you soon,
Dan
