It's been another busy week in TX-23 and D.C. I am proud to serve our district in Congress. Each day, I work to address your concerns and protect our liberties. From helping you navigate federal casework to addressing your concerns, my team and I are always here to help. Please read below for some updates on my recent work representing you in Washington, D.C. and back home in TX-23.

Working for Your in Washington

The HIRE Act is here to help

This week, I introduced the H-2 Improvements to Relieve Employers (HIRE) Act.

The HIRE Act strengthens temporary work visa programs, addresses the national workforce shortage, and remedies our nation’s broken immigration system.

I represent 119 cities in Texas. From urban cores to rural communities, one thing unites them all: a desperate need for labor.

Unfortunately, solutions such as temporary work visa programs are riddled with red tape, making it difficult for employers to fully staff up. This is especially true for small businesses, farmers, ranchers, and many others on Main Street struggling to get by.

In order for our economy to reach its full potential, we need to strengthen and streamline work visa options, which is precisely what the HIRE Act seeks to do.

Congressman Tony Gonzales joins Members of Congress and organizations supporting the HIRE Act for a press conference on July 18, 2023.

Standing with Israel

On Tuesday, I met with a group of dedicated constituents representing Christians United For Israel to discuss the importance of a continued strong relationship between our two countries.

I let them know they can always count on me to champion their efforts in Congress.

As part of the NDAA last week, I helped secure $3 billion to provide Israel with security assistance. This funding is critical to ensuring that Israel can defend their homeland and strengthening U.S.-Israel ties.

Bringing Uvalde Families Together

On Wednesday, I met with the staff and leadership of KABOOM! to discuss the work they have done to provide the families of Uvalde with interactive places to play.

By having these family-friendly areas in the community, Uvalde families have been able to reconnect in a safe and welcoming environment.

Safeguading our Schools - Greenlights Grant Initiative

On Thursday, I spoke with Bret Baier on Fox News, along with Uvalde native, Matthew McConaughey, to discuss the work we are doing through the newly formed Greenlights Grant Initiative.

The mission of this organization is simple to help communities through the grant application process for funds that have already been allocated for school security and mental health services. Unfortunately, many school districts are unaware that this funding exists, let alone how to navigate the process.

As Congressional Co-Chair of this project, I look forward to getting these funds out of D.C. and into our communities.
