John,
According to a new report, record amounts of dark money flooded our elections in 2020 and 2022.1
The ACE Act, co-sponsored by over 100 House Republicans, would make that even worse, allowing corporations and foreign governments to play an even larger role in our elections―remaining completely anonymous while they pour untraceable money into our elections.2
But now, the newly introduced Freedom to Vote Act would end the undue influence of secret money in our elections, protect access to the ballot, and stop partisan gerrymandering.
The American people overwhelmingly believe in the promise of democracy. But, just this year alone, 11 states have passed 13 restrictive voting laws, fueled by dark money, to actively rig our elections and disenfranchise voters―particularly communities of color.3
Join CHN and our national allies in demanding Congress strengthen, not undermine, our right to vote. Tell Congress to pass the Freedom to Vote Act to ensure everyone has a voice and a vote in our democracy.
ADD YOUR NAME
Anti-voting laws, including those passed in Florida, Georgia, and Texas, put up barriers between us and our democracy including protecting dark money in our elections and codifying disenfranchisement through partisan gerrymandering. This allows elected officials to select their voters instead of voters selecting their elected officials.
The Freedom to Vote Act would fight back against these attacks on our democracy by:
-
Creating national standards to protect our freedom to vote, such as requiring same-day voter registration and early voting in all states;
-
Restoring the right to vote in federal elections for people who have served their time for felony convictions;
-
Ensuring fair representation;
-
And, taking steps to get Big Money out of politics.
Add your name and demand Congress protect the future of our democracy by passing the Freedom to Vote Act now. This is what democracy looks like.
In 2020 and 2022, CHN worked with allies across the country to help people in marginalized communities claim their right to vote. With just over a year until the next election, we’re not sitting on the sidelines. We’re fighting for equal access to the ballot box and equal representation in the halls of Congress.
Thank you for taking action today to defend our democracy from dark money and ensure our elections truly equal one person, one vote.
