A PERSONAL NOTE
Â
There's no place like home. There's no place like home. There's no place
like...
Oh, look!
I'm back.
No matter how far away I travel and how much I love exploring new
places, coming home to America is always a joy.
Aside from sleeping off the jet lag, there are a few things that I
wanted to do ASAP.
I needed to replace my defunct Fitbit. I got into such a habit of
walking in Europe and it had such a great impact on my health, that I
wanted to make sure I kept it up when I returned. I know it's silly but
that little step tracker on my wrist helps me to be motivated, reach my
goals, and even exceed them.
I needed some barbecue as only a Southern girl can. While I don't eat
the pork skins, the rest of my plate of deliciousness made me feel like
a kid at Granny's house. Especially the slaw. I found a restaurant that
makes slaw exactly like hers. Add the main dish, succulent brisket,
some mac and cheese (the good kind with the crunchy stuff on top), and
some hush puppies, and I was a happy camper. The Cheerwine made the
lunch complete. (Is just a local, North Carolina thing?) If you don't
know what Cheerwine is, it reminds me of cherry Coke but a bit less
cola. I don't drink it often but always enjoy it when I do have it. My
daughter tried the Cheerwine Ale, colloquially called CheerBeer. I
wasn't a fan, but I don't like beer much anyway.
I also had some products I doled out for myself over the past six months
to replace, and it was so nice ripping into those packages. I'm reading
a physical book I can hold in my hands instead of a book on my Kindle
and I'm so happy about it. It's the little things, you know?
I've got some big changes coming, and I think you guys will enjoy
following the journey over on TheFrugalite.com.
It's great to be home!
