While far-right Republicans continue to attack abortion and contraceptive care in states across the country one year after Roe v. Wade was overturned, California is leading the way on reproductive rights.
A new report from Center for American Progress [[link removed]] outlines both the positive and negative trends to come out of the U.S. Supreme Court’s disastrous Dobbs decision — which left almost 1 in 3 women living in states where abortion is banned or largely restricted — and found California stood out as a beacon of hope.
With Attorney General Rob Bonta’s leadership, our state has proactively protected and expanded reproductive freedom by:
- Enshrining the right to bodily autonomy and reproductive choice, including safe access to abortion and contraception, in our state constitution;
- Enacting a shield law to protect California’s out-of-state abortion patients and providers from prosecution by anti-choice states;
- Stockpiling an emergency supply of Misoprostol along with other efforts to protect access to safe and effective abortion medication.
Check out the full report to learn how dangerous attacks on bodily autonomy and reproductive care have increased across the country, and how California is fighting back → [[link removed]]

As long as Attorney General Bonta is here, you can rest assured that reproductive rights are safe in California.
