john — A Republican colleague of mine in the U.S. Senate is putting our national security at risk to advance his MAGA agenda. It’s despicable.

Tommy Tuberville, a Senator from Alabama, has single-handedly blocked hundreds of military appointments for months. And if you’re wondering why the heck he’s doing this, it’s because he’s protesting the Department of Defense’s abortion policy.

Right now, military personnel who are stationed in states where abortion is banned (like Alabama) may be reimbursed for travel expenses to receive abortions in other states.

Apparently, Tommy Tuberville does not like giving servicemembers the right to make decisions about their health care — and as a result, he’s using partisan tactics to block military nominations.

john, this is an affront to our national security.

Seven previous secretaries of defense, who served under both Democratic and Republican presidents, have called on Tuberville to lift his blockade.

Yet Tuberville persists, and his GOP colleagues remain quiet about his political publicity stunt impacting millions of our military personnel nationwide.
