In an age of information overload, it is crucial that we break down barriers and ensure that everyone has access to the resources necessary to make informed decisions while we’re online.

That’s why I’m proud to inform you that I recently re-introduced the bipartisan Terms-of-service Labeling, Design and Readability (TLDR) Act – legislation that requires online companies make their terms of service contracts more accessible, transparent, and understandable for consumers.

Transparency and accessibility are the cornerstones of a healthy society. But sadly, blanket terms-of-service agreements have forced consumers to either ‘agree’ to all of a company’s conditions or lose access to a website or app entirely.

Passing the TLDR Act would put power back in the hands of consumers by requiring companies to provide a simple, nutrition label-style summary at the top of their terms-of-service agreements – something the American people overwhelmingly support.

Team, re-introducing this bill was a great first step. Now we need to ensure it passes through the House – but I can’t do it alone.
