Nabilah Islam is a key leader in this movement, and that’s why I’m endorsing her for Congress — she’s a fierce progressive who will fight for those who have been ignored and hurt by our political system for far too long.

And she’s making history — Nabilah had to cancel her healthcare and put her student loans in forbearance just to continue her run. So she’s petitioning the Federal Election Commission to break down the boundaries that prevent working-class Americans from running for office.

We haven’t yet achieved the America we’re fighting for because Congress doesn’t reflect the people it represents — and it’s easy for the wealthy to quit their job to run for office because they have the resources they need to support themselves while campaigning. That’s not a luxury we all have — and it’s a grave injustice that we need to change.
