Dear John,
Like many of the local leaders in our network, I got my start in advocacy when 50CAN helped me launch my own education advocacy organization in my home state. Supporting the next generation of advocates is central to what we do at 50CAN.
My entrance into advocacy isn’t a unique story, however. The grassroots advocates that our campaigns across the country train and support are going on to great things: they’re making films, they’re attending school board meetings across the country and they’re even addressing the president in the White House.
We’ve always believed at 50CAN that change comes most effectively when it’s driven by those closest to the ground. Over the past several years, we’ve been increasingly appreciative of the unquestionable power in the voices of grassroots advocates.
That’s why, in 2020, we’re doubling-down on a strategy of recruiting and training grassroots leaders from across the country. Our ambitious goal: 1,500 new education advocates before year’s end.
