The yearly milestones represent cherished traditions and precious moments with family, which our courageous deployed men and women, unfortunately, have to miss out on. Deployed Chaplains frequently request holiday items to be sent overseas, enabling them to create makeshift holiday celebrations regardless of their location. Chaplains understand the significance of boosting morale during such times when spirits may be at an all-time low. This is where the Soldiers' Angels Chaplain Support Team comes into play, ready to serve and support. Most recently, Chaplain K coordinated with the Soldiers' Angels Chaplain Support Team to collect 4th of July decorations and water balloons to create a fun Independence Day celebration. "I wanted to thank you and the rest of our Angels for the 4th of July decorations and water balloons! We made good use of them for the 4th festivities. We decorated the one little restaurant on camp (beside the dining facility) and hosted a pizza night. We also got a pool day with cardboard boat races (under fire of water balloons) and a cornhole tournament. We weren't allowed fireworks, but your Angels helped us have a good celebration anyways. Thanks for your support!" - Chaplain K Thank you to all those volunteers on the Chaplain Support Team for helping to ensure our heroes enjoyed some good old-fashioned fun on our Nation's birthday! After a short extension of the #GoCamo deadline and some massive support from all of you, we not only met our Go Camo goal of collecting 20,000 lbs. of care package supplies, but we exceeded it!! After our exciting initial Go Camo weight reveal on July 3, we had to think of some way to make the final reveal at least almost as exciting as a bunch of big trucks... So we enlisted some sharpshooters to help reveal the final weight in the warehouse... nerf style! Click here to watch the fun on Facebook! Go Camo Weight July 3, 2023: Go Camo FINAL Weight: We Need Your Help! Did you know that Soldiers' Angels is one of the top-rated nonprofits in the country according to Great Nonprofits? That's right. Atlanta Drive Through Baby Shower The Soldiers' Angels team in Atlanta recently demonstrated support for expectant Veteran moms-to-be by participating in the VA Women's Center Quarterly Baby Shower. A heartwarming event where fourteen incredible female Veterans were showered with appreciation, and an abundance of baby essentials including diaper bags, car seats, and other goodies to equip them for their upcoming bundle of joy. Winter is Around the Corner... The annual Blanket Drive is back this year with a new twist--we're collecting more than just blankets! VAs across the country have requested our help collecting items that will prepare homeless Veterans for the coming colder months--coats, gloves, hats, and blankets. We know it might feel strange collecting winter gear during the dog days of summer, but if we work together now, we'll be able collect, sort, and ship these items to VA ahead of any chance of cold weather! Campaign runs now through September 30th! Support by collecting, shopping, or donating! Volunteers Making an Impact Through Patient Visits Things are finally returning to 100% normal post-pandemic which means that our incredible Angel volunteers are finally able to return to one of their most cherished volunteer duties: visiting Veteran patients in VA Hospitals across the country. Volunteers visit patients at their bedside and deliver a wide variety of support items ranging from lunch to Soldiers' Angels Hygiene Kits to blankets and more! And of course, the highlight for most volunteers and Veterans is the smiles, the conversation, and the connection. A huge thanks to all of our volunteers for their support with this important mission! Due to photo restrictions at VAs, we're not always able to capture these inspiring moments. But here are just a few from recent visits in San Diego with Angel Page, and Augusta when a local active duty unit spent their afternoon visiting patients. Miss New York Shout out to Miss New York, Sofia Sanchez, for supporting our GoCamo care package drive! Sofia's father is currently deployed in the Air Force and she loves using her platform to support military and first responders. She did a wonderful job rallying support from her community to collect snacks and other items. Bravo, Miss Sofia! Sweetening a Pre-Deployment Grateful we could make their deployment a little 𝒔𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒕𝒆𝒓!! Soldiers' Angels was onsite at a recent pre-deployment event supplying our brave men and women with Soldiers' Angels Fly Away Bags, Girl Scout Cookies, and lots of honey thanks to a very generous donation of 4,000 bottles of honey from Bennett's Honey Farm!
