Friend — A very special day for our movement is coming up soon. On July 27, we celebrate the 101st birthday of our beloved co-founder, Norman Lear. Help us celebrate by signing Norman’s birthday card and sending him good wishes for his birthday! >> Norman has dedicated his entire life to the fight for Truth, Justice, and the American Way. He flew combat missions in World War II to defeat the rise of global fascism, produced visionary shows that started conversations around important social issues such as racism, abortion care, and LBGTQ+ rights, and founded People For the American Way to mobilize Americans against a rising authoritarian agenda in the 1980s. All along, Norman has had one vision, to protect the ideals of our country: freedom, equality, opportunity, and justice for all. His ongoing activism and love for our country inspire us to continue working to make his vision a reality – especially during this critical time when our rights are constantly targeted. Once again, the Far Right is threatening our democracy through endless attacks on our voting rights and celebrating the devastating decisions from a Supreme Court that serves the wealthy and the powerful, not regular Americans. Norman has taught us an important lesson: the way we honor the country we love is by recognizing its flaws and working to address them. That’s why we won’t stop fighting until we win fair courts, voting rights for all, and guaranteed protections of our human rights. Thank you. Svante Myrick
