Dear John,

Mildred applied for a new ID in Virginia and was told she would need a birth certificate to complete the process. She then called VoteRiders’ Helpline.

Mildred never received an official birth certificate from the state of North Carolina when she was born in 1960.

We worked with Mildred to gather the necessary documents to request a delayed birth certificate: her marriage license, divorce decree, high school records, her child’s birth certificate, and a Social Security record. These documents added up to a total cost of $85.

Trying to secure a delayed birth certificate requires funds Mildred doesn't have. VoteRiders covered these costs.

Mildred submitted her first request and supporting documents in November. She’s still working to obtain her birth certificate today.

Mildred’s ID will allow her to get a job, a stable place to live, and the ability to exercise her right to vote. We’re committed to providing her with the support and financial aid necessary to navigate this complicated process. With your help, we can make sure she succeeds. Can you chip in to cover costs for voters like Mildred?

With our gratitude,
Kathleen and the VoteRiders Team
