The federal government is in a financial problem of its own making. Congress’s shocking lack of self-discipline has led to runaway federal spending contributing to more than $32.5 trillion in national debt- triggering an inflationary cycle that has been eating away at your hard earned money.
Americans are demanding that Congress get their fiscal house in order, and pass appropriations bills (legislation providing authority for the government to spend money) that actually spend less money and reduce the deficit. The so-called Fiscal Responsibility Act (FRA) negotiated between House leadership and the White House fails to accomplish this reduction.
The current fiscal year (FY23) ends at midnight on September 30, 2023. Soon, Congress will enter its August recess with the Senate scheduled to return on September 5th, and the House on September 12th. Congress should waste no time in developing a plan to cut spending through the appropriations process.
