John, I couldn't be more proud of the folks in my state.

For decades, Hollywood elites have gotten richer while TV and film screenwriters have seen almost none of the profits that their hard work helped bring in. In the last decade alone, studio profits have increased by 39% while the average writer's salary has actually gone down by 4%.

Now, the brave writers in Hollywood are on strike – joined by Hollywood's actors for the industry's first dual strike since 1960. And let me just say, I'm proud to wholeheartedly support this decision.

I have spent my entire career fighting to strengthen the power of workers in the workplace, and unionizing is one critical part of this process. Unions are not only vital to the health of our economy, but they also help reduce economic inequality, boost pay and increase benefits for workers.

That's why I have supported legislation over the years to give power back to the workers – including the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, which would be the most significant upgrade to U.S. labor law in 80 years.

But unfortunately, this bill never made it past the Senate – and that's exactly why we need more pro-union lawmakers like myself in Congress' upper chamber.

John, I'm running for Senate so I can build a progressive future that works for everyone – including our nation's workers. But to be frank with you, a new poll shows this race is nearing a statistical tie, and I can't pull ahead without your help. So I'm humbly asking:

Can I count on you to chip in to my campaign now so I can win this incredibly competitive race and fight for workers in the Senate?

Thanks for being in this fight with me.

Barbara
