We hope you have had a great week! During another packed week in Washington, Congressman Kim discussed supporting our prestigious military academies, he enjoyed meetings with a variety of different groups – including our local New Jersey neighbors and educators.

Additionally, today marks the 100th anniversary of the introduction of the Equal Rights Amendment, which would enshrine gender equality into the U.S. Constitution. Congressman Kim is proud to continue his support for the ERA, including signing a discharge petition this week to push for a vote on the amendment in Congress.

TOMORROW: VA PACT Act Summer VET Fest

This Saturday July 22nd from 11am-3pm, the Department of Veteran Affairs is hosting a PACT Act Summer VET Fest for veterans and their families. The event will be held at the Crescenz VA in Philly with food, games, and music for the whole family!

The event will also give qualifying Vietnam, Gulf War, and Post 9/11 veterans and survivors the important chance to learn about PACT Act benefits before the August 9 deadline to receive retroactive pay!

ICYMI: Congressman Kim Hosts 65th Town Hall

On Monday night, Congressman Kim held his 65th town hall, a telephone town hall! He enjoyed sharing more about his most recent work in congress and answering neighbors’ questions about restoring trust in government, standing up for servicemembers’ reproductive healthcare access, supporting legislation to help Americans retire with dignity, his work to support servicemembers and their families at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, and his continued efforts to pass gun violence prevention legislation to protect our children and communities.

Congressman Kim Visits the United States Naval Academy and Speaks about Diversity Education at Military Academies

To start off his week, Congressman Kim visited the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland to speak with midshipmen, recent graduates, and leadership at the academy.

These conversations help inform the Congressman’s work and leadership as the Ranking Member of the Military Personnel Subcommittee, where he prioritizes the needs of our servicemembers and their families.

Later in the week, Congressman Kim participated in a House Armed Services Committee hearing with leadership of our nation’s Military Service Academies. He took the opportunity to confirm with each of them that diversity in the military makes the force stronger and that diversity education is an unburdensome and small portion of their work preparing young, brave servicemembers for duty.

Rabbi Perice Joins the Congressman for Joint Address of Congress

On Wednesday morning, Congressman Kim welcomed Rabbi Perice of Temple Sinai of Cinnaminson to Washington as his guest to Isaac Herzog, President of the State of Israel’s Joint Address of Congress.

It is a pleasure to have a piece of local New Jersey represented for this special occasion honoring the unique and cherished relationship between the U.S. and Israel.

NJEA Honors Congressman Kim with Award for Excellence

This week, Congressman Kim met with the New Jersey Education Association to speak about his support for local educators, school staff, and students. As a graduate of New Jersey public schools, he was grateful to also receive their Award for Excellence.

A Conversation with the National Alliance to End Homelessness

No one should go without a roof over their head. We are proud to work to support veterans, children, or anyone in our community struggling to have a place to call home.

This week, Congressman Kim met with the National Alliance to End Homelessness about investments to combat housing insecurity.

UPCOMING: Constituent Services Resource Fair

Congressman Kim and our office are hosting a Constituent Services Resource Fair on Thursday, August 3rd from 12PM to 4PM at the Mount Laurel Community Center.

Building off the tenets of accessibility, independence, civility, and serving you, the resource fair is aimed at bringing government and non-profit resources directly into the community. The event is open to the public, and we hope to see you there!

Do you know a young, aspiring computer scientist? Registration for the 2023 Congressional App Challenge is open! The challenge is an incredible annual opportunity for local middle and high school students to show off their STEM skills.
