John, I’m speechless.
Speaker Kevin McCarthy granted conspiracy peddling political pundit Tucker Carlson exclusive access to more than 40,000 hours of security footage from inside the Capitol during the Jan. 6 insurrection.
Is this what it’s come to? Rather than allowing a federal reinvestigation, MAGA Republicans are just going to pass off sensitive information to a known Trumped-up dogmatist to sift through?
John, this goes beyond what any of us could have even predicted.
Giving zealots like Tucker Carlson free reign to create and foster conspiracies is not only unprecedented, but completely dangerous. This just goes to show how far McCarthy will go to pander to election deniers, literal insurrectionists.
McCarthy, my colleagues, and I all have a duty to find the truth about who was there, who incited the insurrectionists, and how we can make sure that our democracy never again faces that same threat.
This latest stunt has only emboldened me even more to demand truth and justice, not whatever is filtered through the mouths of conspiracy theorists.
We have to do everything we can to defeat them. Luckily, we have momentum, but we have to keep it up because the race for the majority is neck-and-neck, and every dollar counts.
