Denver recently welcomed one of its most ethnically diverse city councils [[link removed]] in its history, and we’re here for it! Several newly elected members, including a record six Latinas and the first two openly LGBTQ+ Black members in the council’s history, now help form a council that better reflects the city’s population.
With Election Day coming up in just a few short months, the new Denver City Council is a reminder that change is possible, that New Americans are the leaders we need, and that inclusive governance enables every voice to be heard.
Coincidentally, we were in Denver last month for our Ready to Lead: Southwest training! Check out some photos of the bold leaders we trained here [[link removed]] .

This week, several groups sued the state of Florida [[link removed]] over its latest anti-immigrant law, arguing that it “inflicts enormous harm on people’s ability to go about their daily lives” and could lead to "unlawful arrest, prosecution, and harassment" of immigrant and BIPOC communities.
This lawsuit emphasizes the need for all of us to stay vigilant and proactive in the face of legislation that seeks to harm New American and marginalized communities and undermine our rights. The struggle for a more just and inclusive America persists, and we all have a role to play.

It has been a full month since we hosted our 9th annual New American Hero Awards [[link removed]] in Washington, D.C., and while this year's awards may be over, that doesn't mean the party has to stop!
This year, our staff created a “no-skips” playlist to share the magic of our special Hero Awards with all of you. If you're craving a dance party or need some solid beats for your BBQs and cookouts this summer, say no more—this is your playlist! [[link removed]] Give it a listen and send us your song of the summer on social media. 🎧
