Dear John,
I wanted to start out by thanking every single Minnesotan who took the time to submit a response to my USPS survey this week. More than 600 of you shared stories of lost medications and rent checks, unsustainable working conditions for letter carriers and a lack of responsiveness from USPS.
You’ve had enough – and I have too. Action needs to be taken to resolve these postal issues, once and for all – and that’s exactly what I told USPS leadership today during my visits to the Eagan and Prior Lake Post Offices.
I heard a lot of talk during our meetings. But I won’t be satisfied until I see concrete progress being made. There are workforce shortages that need to be addressed, working conditions that must be improved for letter carriers and postal workers and you all deserve accurate timelines for when your mail will be delivered.
I will be keeping close tabs on any efforts being made on this front and won’t stop working until every single Minnesotan living in the South Metro can send and receive their mail on time.
While my visits today were to Eagan and Prior Lake – my goal is to visit the post offices in the cities and towns where I have heard about issues with the postal service. So, please make sure to contact my office and let my team know what is going on – this is an important issue, and I want to hear from you!
Here's some of what else I was up to this week:
Advocating for Minnesota's corn growers
It was such an honor to receive this year’s National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) President’s Award from NCGA President Tom Haag for my work to support Minnesota corn growers. A huge thank you to Tom and everyone with NCGA who made their way to DC this week for the Corn Congress!
Working to expand access to overdose prevention resources
I am excited to report that the House Energy and Commerce Committee passed my RECONNECTS Act – with support from both Republicans and Democrats! This bill will help save lives by getting Minnesota communities access to the overdose prevention tools they need. Next stop: a vote on the House Floor!
Attending Israel President Herzog's joint address to Congress
I got to welcome Jon from Mendota Heights to DC on Wednesday to hear Israel President Isaac Herzog’s address to Congress. Thank you for coming, Jon!
Behind the scenes with Rep. Craig:
Well, look who made it out to DC this week: one of my favorite farmers and our office’s ag liaison, Les Anderson! It was so great to see Les – and so many other friends – at the National Corn Growers Association’s Corn Congress this week.
P.S. Extra points if you can spot the corn tie!
Well, that’s the end of this week’s update! We are back to DC next week for votes!
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
Until next time,
Angie Craig
Member of Congress
