In 2022, the fight for the House of Representatives was so close that Republicans only won the majority by just five seats. According to The Hill, “A few thousand votes could have swung control.”

Last month, the Supreme Court struck Alabama’s congressional maps for violating the Voting Rights Act by illegally diluting the power of Black votes.
SO NOW:
Alabama must draw new, fair maps before the next election – and ongoing challenges in states like Arkansas, Georgia, and Texas could lead to even more gerrymanders being struck down.
