Hey John,

Welcome to the July edition of Take Five!

We're deep into the Summer months and there is something in the air: worker solidarity. Writers, actors, hotel and fast food workers, delivery drivers and more are fighting back against corporate greed. 650,000 Americans are ready to strike, or already have. It's a #HotStrikeSummer! 🔥

Below you can learn how the Jobs With Justice network is showing up with workers, ways you can plug in, and more.

In Solidarity,

Jobs With Justice

North Bay Jobs With Justice continues their campaign to pressure the wine industry to step up and provide disaster pay for farmworkers.

"Whether it's wildfires, floods, extreme heat – farmworkers are the first impacted by climate-change fueled disasters. And yet the multi-billion dollar wine industry continues making profits year after year. That’s why Sonoma County farmworkers are organizing to win DISASTER PAY – compensation for lost hours and hazard pay when working conditions are dangerous.

With so many historic victories already won last year, workers have the momentum. And when we fight, we win!"

Follow their campaign and find updates on Instagram.

"For the past two years, higher prices have made life harder for working families and retirees. But today’s cost-of-living woes may only be the tip of the iceberg. America’s retirees and those approaching their retirement years face deep uncertainties about their golden years." Read more.

SEIU-UHW delivered a picket notice to Kaiser Permanente management last week!

Less than three months away from their contract expiration, tens of thousands of healthcare workers at Kaiser Permanente will hold pickets to protest the short staffing crisis and its effects on patients and caregivers.
