"As Andrea Hsu reports at NPR, after losing in December union workers at CSX immediately brought the subject back up to management, demanding again and again some movement on paid leave, which led to reopened negotiations and media coverage. Sure enough, in early February CSX gave in to two unions, granting some 5,000 workers four days of paid leave, as well as the option to convert up to three personal days into sick days." Read more.

Thousands of southern California workers have launched the largest hotel strike in modern history. Workers represented by UNITE HERE Local 11 are currently on their third wave of strikes. SEIU-UHW delivered a picket notice to Kaiser Permanente management last week!
Less than three months away from their contract expiration, tens of thousands of healthcare workers at Kaiser Permanente will hold pickets to protest the short staffing crisis and its effects on patients and caregivers. The pickets will take place at 50 facilities across California, Washington, Oregon, and Colorado, and will start July 24 and run through July 29. Read the full press release here.
