Hi John,

The Freethought Equality Fund has endorsed two members of our community running for the California State Senate -- Steve Hill and Shelly Masur. Both are in competitive blanket elections on March 3, 2020. Short bios of these endorsed candidates are below, as are links to support their campaigns. Please be as generous as you can.

Steve Hill is running for the California State Senate in District 21. He has extensive experience in both the private and public sectors. Hill is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, worked in the aerospace and real estate industries, served as a corrections officer, and performs as a comedian. With my background, Hill says, “I know what it takes to find solutions, navigate complicated governmental agencies, and get things done.” His policy goals include creating more living wage jobs, improving our public schools, ending the failed war on drugs, and making public safety, gun control in particular, a top priority. Hill is an atheist.

Shelly Masur is running for the California State Senate in District 13. Having been an organizer, school board member, non-profit leader, and city council member, she knows how to “fight for what’s right, make things work, and stand up and make change.” Masur is currently the Vice Mayor of Redwood City, California. Her policy goals include fighting for high quality education, protecting women’s rights and health, creating affordable communities, building a sustainable future, and reforming the way Sacramento does business. Masur was raised Lutheran, but does not subscribe to any religion now.

Thank you for your membership and support!

Sincerely,
