Delineators
Added Crosswalk Safety at Dodd Rd. and South Plaza Dr.

Traffic delineators are used to direct traffic flow and?provide a safety barrier for pedestrians. This week, the City received a permit from the Minnesota Department of transportation to add pedestrian delineators along Dodd Rd., near the crosswalk at South Plaza Dr.

The installation of these delineators will protect pedestrians stepping off the curb to cross to the east, from vehicles traveling south on Dodd Rd. and attempting to pass those making a left turn onto South Plaza Drive.

For more on the City?s efforts to increase the safety of bicyclists and pedestrians in our community, see the Bike and Pedestrian Plan finalized last year.

Raingarden Event
Raingarden Education Night

On Thursday, July 13, the Dakota County Master Gardeners hosted a raingarden education night featuring a tour of the curb-cut raingardens within the Ivy Falls East neighborhood, as well as at St. Paul?s United Methodist Church and the Wesley Lane neighborhood. These raingardens were installed as part of the City?s Boulevard Raingarden Program, available to residents undergoing a street improvement project.

Raingardens are gardens that are designed to capture and treat rainwater runoff from lawns, roofs, streets, and other impervious surfaces. Stormwater runoff from these areas often carries pollutants such as oil, grease and heavy metals, as well as grass clippings, leaves and lawn care chemicals. These pollutants would otherwise end up in our surface waters, such as the Mississippi River.

Participants in this free event learned about native plants and their benefits, as well as the benefits that raingardens provide.
