February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month

1 in 10 high school students has been purposefully hit, slapped, or physically hurt by a boyfriend or girlfriend.

RAISE AWARENESS NOW

Hi John,

How much do you know about teen dating violence?

1 in 3 adolescents in the U.S. is a victim of physical, sexual, emotional or verbal abuse from a dating partner. And young women ages 16-24 experience the highest rate of intimate partner violence—almost triple the national average.

When girls face partner abuse, they are more likely to suffer long-term behavioral and health consequences, including suicide attempts, eating disorders, and drug use. They are also more likely to struggle academically, have low self-esteem, and are overall less likely to feel capable of pursuing their dreams.

What can we do?

Ending teen dating violence means raising awareness and advocating for causes that empower girls! It's important to educate ourselves on this issue so we can recognize the signs before things escalate.
