Nearly ?10million approved to make homes more energy efficient

Devo

I am delighted we have approved funding to help make even more local homes more energy efficient.

The money comes from Government and is part of a larger ?18 million being given to the area as part of negotiations for a devolution deal.

Homes across both Nottingham and Nottinghamshire will benefit from the ?9.9m retrofit works on homes with poor energy efficiency ratings, the most poorly insulated and the lowest-income households.

The ?18m of early investment has been given to Nottingham, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Derby and will be spent on improving housing, transport and the skills of local people.

We and Derbyshire County Council, Nottinghamshire County Council and Derby City Council have been working with the Government on devolution plans including a package of local powers and funding worth ?1.14 billion, from 2024.

Better walking and cycling paths coming to Bilborough

beechdale

Work starts later this month to build a new walking and cycling route along Beechdale Road, Hollington Road and Wigman Road. These works will create safer segregated paths that will connect into the city?s wider cycle network, and support more people to make local journeys on foot or by bike. Creating a safe space for new cyclists - particularly children - can help foster confidence and create a love of active travel that is great for the planet as well as physical and mental health.

This project is part of our transforming cities programme, supported by funding from the Government to promote sustainable travel and improve access to employment opportunities and within communities, and working towards the council?s ambition to be a carbon neutral city by 2028.

Good luck to the Lionesses

lioness

Tomorrow will see the England football team play their opening match against Haiti in the Women?s World Cup taking place in New Zealand and Australia. After triumphing at the Euros last year, there?s a huge amount of hope and expectation on the Lionesses ? I wish them the best of luck and especially our home-grown talent in goal Mary Earps.
