As you may already know, this year’s general election in Virginia will determine whether or not millions of women all across the country (not just in VA) have access to critical reproductive healthcare.

With that in mind, we are writing today with important and exciting news…🥁

Her Bold Move has officially endorsed Jessica Anderson for the Virginia House of Delegates to represent District 71 – one of the most competitive races in the state.

Jessica’s opponent is Republican incumbent Amanda Batten, who has regularly voted against reproductive rights and gun safety. The top issues for voters in this district are: reproductive rights, public education, and housing. We want to help Jessica raise awareness that, based on Batten’s voting record, those issues will be on the chopping block if Batten remains in her seat.

One more thing - Republicans control Virginia’s House of Delegates by a THIN margin – only four seats. But, according to ABC News, 8 of the 100 House seats on the ballot in VA this year are considered competitive – Jessica’s race is one of them!

That means Jessica’s race could be one of only 7 other opportunities to ensure VA remains a strong, pro-choice state, and a safe haven for women searching for reproductive healthcare access across the South.

Jessica has an intimate understanding of the issues families face in her District and the country at large. She’s a single mom who knows what it’s like to struggle to provide health insurance for her daughters and meet financial goals for her family’s daily needs. These experiences have shown her how crucial state assistance programs are for single mothers and families who need it.

As a woman who once needed a safe and legal abortion when she was 18, and the mother to three daughters, Jessica is committed to protecting reproductive freedom and access to healthcare in her state. Meanwhile, Jessica’s opponent was given a D on the ReproRising Virginia 2023 Legislative Scorecard for supporting anti-abortion bills.

“I want to make sure that we continue to keep Abortion bans in the trash where they belong,” Jessica said. “And I will ensure that we remain one of the last few sanctuary states in the South for reproductive health care.”

With her lived experience, Jessica is ready to advocate for her district, and serve as a vital pro-choice vote in the Virginia House of Delegates. She will be a strong progressive female voice in Virginia’s capitol, but we must help her get there.
