Dear ASBN Community,

On June 14th, 2023 the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) held a virtual public hearing on the proposed rule ([link removed]) to cut climate pollution from fossil fuel-fired power plants. We know the oil and gas industry will push hard against these new regulations and we need your help to push back on their anti-climate action message.
Tell the EPA to Cut Pollution Now ([link removed])

At the June hearing, ASBN’s Director of Climate and Energy Policy, Michael Green testified on behalf of ASBN, offering a business perspective supporting this regulation.

In his testimony, Michael highlighted the importance of clean electricity to support businesses who are transitioning to a carbon-free future. The clean energy transition will provide $85 billion in net climate and public health benefits ([link removed](PM2.) over the next two decades. It will also strengthen the health and well-being of people, the planet, and the economy. In addition, Michael commented that extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and intense because of the climate crisis. You can read his full testimony here ([link removed]) .

Just a month after the EPA hearing, the impact of climate became a personal reality for Michael, when Vermont, Michael’s home state, was hit by devastating storms and flooding. Michael shared: “As I spend the week digging my neighbors and community out from this catastrophic event, I can't help but reflect on how important our collective work is. This proposal will slash carbon pollution from electricity production by 2040. President Biden’s Affordable Clean Energy plan will help us build momentum to continue moving the US energy sector toward a clean energy future. We need a robust rule to defend communities from the climate crisis like I experienced in VT.”
We don’t need any more climate wake-up calls.
We must act now!
