It’s happening now.
In an 11 to 10 vote, the Senate Judiciary Committee advanced the Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency (SCERT) Act. Now it’s heading to the full Senate.
The only way this legislation is going to move forward is if our senators know how much we support it. No matter whether your senators are Republicans or Democrats, we need to wear them down and make sure they know that tackling Supreme Court corruption is a priority.

Subject: We’re one step closer to holding Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito accountable

Good news, Chloe:
After months of damning reporting about Supreme Court justices’ bad behavior, senators on the Judiciary Committee are considering legislation tomorrow that would hold the Court accountable.
The Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency (SCERT) Act would require justices to follow a code of conduct, create an investigative board for ethical complaints, and set transparency standards.
Your senator is on the Senate Judiciary Committee and will have a chance to vote on the bill this week. In two clicks, send a pre-written email urging them to hold the Supreme Court accountable by voting YES on this critical legislation.

With the SCERT Act, Congress can finally step up to act as a check to the Supreme Court’s power.
Until now, there have been little to no mechanisms in place to hold the justices’ blatantly unethical behavior accountable—meaning Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito could keep on jet setting and rubbing elbows with conservative mega donors without fear of reprisal.
We don’t have time to waste, Chloe. If we want to stop the extremist right from courting justices, and stop justices from auctioning their opinions out to the highest bidder, we have to act now.
Email your senator now and tell them to vote YES on the Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency Act.
