Last week, for the first time, the FDA approved the first daily oral contraceptive for use in the U.S. without a prescription. [1] At a time when bodily autonomy is being restricted left and right, this is a significant step forward in providing greater reproductive choices for all people with the capacity for pregnancy, and it will be especially beneficial for young people and communities with less access to or comfort with the medical system.
We have been championing a nonpersciption birth control since our founding and are thrilled to see this happen. Donate today to help push for more.
Greater access to oral contraceptives significantly helps fulfil the goals of reproductive justice, which includes the right to have children, to not have children, and to raise our families in safe and healthy communities.
No one should be denied these goals because of time, logistics, or cost. Give today to help with our mission.
Support for a nonpresciption pill includes groups like the American Medical Association, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist, and the American Academy of Family Physicians. [2]
We agree with the science. Donate to show you agree too.
Sincerely,
Shireen Shakouri
Deputy Director, Reproaction
P.S. We celebrate this victory while also knowing there is much work to be done as we fight for full bodily autonomy. Help fund this ongoing work with a donation today.
