Free Speech Coalition Petitions CFPB to Address Financial Discrimination
FSC has submitted a 13-page comment to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), urging regulators to address discriminatory banking practices affecting the adult industry. These practices, intensified by the shift to digital payments and the creator economy, lead to arbitrary bank account closures, denial of financial services, and excessive fees. FSC emphasizes the importance of protecting free speech rights and ensuring fair access to financial services for adult industry professionals.
Executive Director Alison Boden stresses the urgency of the matter: "Abusive banking practices have had a devastating impact on the adult entertainment and sexual wellness industry, causing financial instability and limiting businesses growth. It is crucial that the CFPB recognizes and addresses these issues to ensure a level playing field for all workers and businesses operating in our industry."
