FiveThirtyEight | Amelia DeVeaux
July 20, 2023
All of the Republican presidential candidates who aren't former President Donald Trump are looking for some version of their Jimmy Carter moment. Way back in 1976, Carter - then a little-known governor - invested heavily in his Iowa ground game, won the caucuses and went on to clinch the Democratic nomination.
Since then, his success has encouraged countless other candidates to visit the first few nominating states early and often. Sherrod Brown is one of the most vulnerable Senate Democratic incumbents in 2024, making Ohio a prime opportunity for a Republican Senate pickup in a cycle with a favorable map for Republicans. WG Discussion Points | David Winston

The White House has launched the economic agenda that they call “Bidenomics.” Our numbers show the electorate doesn’t believe many of the President’s economic claims. At this point, a majority of the country (55%) does not believe that President Biden’s economic plan is working (31-55 believe-do not believe), based on our latest survey for Winning the Issues (June 19-21). In a series of statements promoting Bidenomics, we found that voters don't believe most of those statements, as shown in the chart. WG Discussion Points, July 14, 2023.pdf |
