🚨Want to know which brands top our worst plastic polluters list this year, John? Today, we expose the 'Dirty Dozen' the UK's top plastic polluters, using the data from our people powered Brand Audit. Read the report now. 🗑️ Coca-cola are the biggest culprit AGAIN. They produce more than 3,224,000 metric tonnes of plastic each year across 15 brands. Glass and aluminium can be recycled again and again. But what do they use instead? The cheapest option, brand new plastic. 🗑️ McDonalds climbs to number two. We're not loving it. McDonalds branded packaging was found in 1 in 5 of all cleans. 🤮 🗑️ And in third place, it's Pepsi Co. The home of Walkers crisps, Pepsi, and Seven Up. They've shamefully been in the top three for every Brand Audit we've ever done. Some more lowlights... 🚨 our citizen scientist volunteers found 131 items of vape/e-cigarettes dumped this year, compared to 1 item found during the brand audit in 2022. 🚨 17% of total unbranded plastic waste came from the fishing industry. 👎 Change is possible. There's only one thing standing in the way, and that's greed and bad policy. A profiteering industry that thrives from single-use, cheap and cheerful, plastic production. They churn out new plastics at the expense of the climate, the ocean and the future. We need circular systems that don't keep pumping out plastic waste. Join our calls for better legislation and a nationwide change to business models to focus on re-use. Take a look at the report for more 👇 Thank you for your support, Izzy, Campaigns Manager |
