1) What was Jesus' message in view of the victims who died at the hands of Pilate's thugs and those who died tragically from the tower collapse in Siloam (see 13:1-5)?

2) What did Jesus really mean by telling would-be followers that if you don't 'hate' your family and even your own life, you cannot be my disciple (see 14:26)? Was He being literal?
