Team, today marks eleven years since the 2012 Aurora theater shooting.
Colorado is home to some of the most devastating mass shootings in recent history. Each one leaves a scar on our community.
Aurora.
STEM School.
Columbine.
Colorado Springs.
Boulder.
And yet, not enough has changed. There isn’t a week when I don’t hear from kids, parents, and teachers, advocating for serious action.
As a dad, this fight is personal. I’ve made stopping gun violence a part of my campaign because I’m not willing to sit back and let this become the new normal.
No matter what the NRA and gun lobbyists say, there are commonsense steps we can take to protect our communities from gun violence.
Colorado has led the way on important gun safety reform, including raising the buying age for guns to 21, getting guns out of the hands of domestic abusers, and strengthening the state’s background check system.
There’s still much more work to be done — like getting military-grade weapons off our streets. As your representative, I promise to continue doing everything in my power to fight for safer communities.
Everytown for Gun Safety is leading the fight to end gun violence, one law at a time. Make a charitable donation now: [[link removed]]
