Friend — this summer, the environmental movement is facing a BIG test. It all centers on protecting the progress we’ve made together to address the climate crisis and build a clean energy future. Here’s the situation:

Last year, LCV worked overtime to win passage by Congress of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) — successfully securing historic investments in clean energy, green jobs, and environmental justice. Last session, Congress took the most important actions the U.S. has ever taken on climate change, enacting what we call the affordable clean energy plan.

Now, MAGA Republicans are laser-focused on forcing massive cuts to these popular programs, pushing through huge giveaways to fossil fuel companies and polluters, and slashing beneficial provisions in the affordable clean energy plan. This. Cannot. Happen.

I can’t emphasize it enough: In make-or-break moments like these, your membership matters. And this is even more so with the 3X match offer we have on the table!

Just last week, LCV held a virtual “fly-in” to Washington, D.C. with our state affiliates — scheduling nearly a hundred video meetings between local environmental leaders and congressional offices to urge members of Congress to oppose attacks on clean energy, environmental justice, and climate-smart agriculture, among other investments. And soon, we’ll expand our organizing efforts to ensure that lawmakers hear directly from their constituents about these investments’ benefits when they’re home in their states and districts for Congress’ August recess.

But Friend, if we can’t demonstrate sufficient support for clean energy investments through August, we might not win.
