[link removed] SID SEZ Elections Matter By Sid Dinerstein Wow! The Palm Beach County Commission just made a significant cut in the millage (property tax) rate; by a 7-0 vote. Raise your hand if you think that would have happened if we, the GOP, didn’t have that 4-3 majority. And for those of you who think the Commission Dems have finally seen the light, Fuggedaboutit! (That’s my Brooklyn coming out.) They knew we had the votes. They didn’t want to make themselves vulnerable with another huge tax increase. Elections matter. Before November ’22 and the DeSantis tsunami, it was Commissioner Maria Marino against the world: six Dem commissioners, a very far left senior staff, and the Palm Beach Post Editorial Board. They rammed through the “penny” tax and the $200 million affordable housing program. Now it’s our turn. Maria has established herself as the budget hawk. Sara has maneuvered herself into our own very popular Evel Knievel. They’re both going to get easy reelections and more opportunities to step up for the taxpayers. Our 4-3 majority is fragile. We need to protect all of them – Maria, Sara, Marci, and Michael. And, very simply, that means NO PRIMARIES!!! That’s Job 1 for county elections in 2024. VOTER REGISTRATION MATTERS Republicans have 541,798 more registered voters than Democrats in the state of Florida as of June 2023. While we have been adding thousands of Republican voters to the voter rolls, Democrats have been losing voters. This is the largest advantage Republicans have ever had in Florida and if the totals keep trending like they have been the difference could be over 1 million voters by the 2024 elections which would be huge. We need to keep registering more Republican voters in Palm Beach County. Please encourage your friends and neighbors especially new neighbors who may have moved in from out of state to register to vote and to register as Republicans.
