Hi Friend,

Please join us on Wednesday, July 26 from 2:00- 3:15 PM ET for a virtual Solidarity Encounter on the Understanding Grassroots Feminisms!

The Solidarity Encounter will be in English and Spanish with simultaneous interpretation provided.

In this Solidarity Encounter, we will learn about “Grassroots Feminisms” — a multiplicity of distinct feminisms emerging from movements of women and gender nonconforming people in the Global South in resistance to patriarchy, extractive capitalism, racism, and other intersecting systems of oppression.

We will hear from Martha Lidia Godinez Mirana of Sector de Mujeres, a network of 33 of feminist and Indigenous women’s organizations in Guatemala whose objective is to dismantle the patriarchal, colonial, and neoliberal system through the defense of body, land, territory, nature, Mother Earth, and historical memory. Sector de Mujeres is also a member organization of the global movement World March of Women.

Additionally, Lydia Simas of Grassroots International will share highlights of knowledge and analysis created collectively by the International Feminist Organizing School (IFOS), a radical school of praxis that Grassroots International participated in creating. IFOS was defined by participants as “political proposal to unite, learn and unlearn, to share, to recognize ourselves as protagonists, as people who are struggling for and creating another way of living in the world.”

Solidarity Encounters are virtual, live forums where donors, funders, prospective supporters, philanthropic advisors, and other members of our community can learn more about the work of Grassroots International and our frontline partners, and can build community with one another. The Solidarity Encounters are one of several donor and community education/organizing programs that Grassroots International offers.

Our Solidarity Encounters are interactive and one of the goals is community-building. While the event will be recorded, we hope you will come at the time the event is being offered, keep your video, and participate actively when invited to do so!

More information and the registration link are here. We look forward to seeing you on June 20!

In solidarity,

Maggie (Sasha) Russell-Ciardi
Managing Director of Donor Engagement
