Keeping Your Workers Safe During the Hottest Months of the Year
WorkSafeBC
During the summer months, the risk of heat stress is a major concern for crews in residential construction who often spend long hours outdoors on the job site in hot and humid environments.
When the body is exposed to high temperatures, it tries to regulate its internal temperature by sweating. However, in extremely hot conditions, this natural cooling mechanism may not be enough, leading to heat stress. Heat stress occurs when the body's core temperature rises to dangerous levels, and it can lead to various heat-related illnesses.
There are strategies that can help minimize the risk of heat stress and WorkSafe BC has several resources available on its website.
