Bighorn sheep lottery applications close Aug. 4

Ready for a once-in-a-lifetime hunt? Nebraska residents still have the opportunity to enter a lottery for a 2023 bighorn sheep permit. The deadline to apply is Aug. 4.

The winner of the lottery permit will receive up to four days of free guide service from Game and Parks staff and up to four days and nights of meals and lodging at Fort Robinson State Park. Only Nebraska residents are eligible. The 2023 bighorn sheep season is Nov. 28 to Dec. 22.

New campground to open at Sherman Reservoir

Central Nebraska campers can enjoy the partial opening of the expanded West Ridge Campground at Sherman Reservoir State Recreation Area [ [link removed] ] starting July 17.

Some of the campsites at the new, 61-pad electrical campground will be available; others will open later this fall once enough grass has grown to prevent erosion.?All campsites will have a 50/30-amp connection and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
