John, our team has just started sorting through the results of our Utilities Campaign Survey — and the initial results are powerful.

Over 1,000 respondents took the time to share their experiences with us and have provided valuable information to guide our new Utilities Campaign.

This is a really great start, but we want to hear from at least another 1,000 of our supporters to ensure our campaign plans are representative of our entire movement — and that’s why we’re reaching out to you, John.

We noticed you haven’t taken our survey yet, but it’s not too late! Your response will help shape our work to change the way utilities are structured and remove key barriers to climate progress and climate justice, so please take a few moments to complete the survey here:

Thank you,

Team 350

P.S. We’ve included our original message below which further explains what this campaign — and your feedback — means for our movement.

John -

To end the era of fossil fuels, we aren't afraid to take on the big fights — which is exactly why we’re turning our attention to utility companies and the role they play in worsening the climate crisis.

The corporations and CEOs controlling our utilities are more than just faceless entities whom we pay to power our homes: they can also be a huge impediment to the climate solutions we need.

The good news is that it doesn’t have to be this way, which is why 350 US wants to help create a structure that delivers power for the people, and by the people.

But first, we need to better understand the role utilities play in your daily life. Will you take a few minutes to share your experience with us by taking our Utilities Survey? Your feedback is essential to ensure we’re advocating for people-centered solutions:

Our fight for real climate solutions is already gaining traction. Just a few days ago the New York Times reported that when it comes to a just and equitable transition away from fossil fuels, the "ultimate success depends greatly on one kind of company: the utilities that have monopolies to sell us electricity and gas."1

That’s right: Across the country, utility companies are using the profits from our utility bills to continue to invest in fossil fuels and grow their political power to block the transition to renewable energy.

We believe that through our Utilities Campaign we’ll be able to draw an undeniable link between climate justice and economic well-being — countering the fossil fuel industry’s narrative that coal, oil, and gas are the only path to economic development.

But before we can really dive in, we need to hear directly from you. Your feedback and experiences will ensure that we’re able to run an informed campaign that prioritizes solutions for ALL of us — not just some. Please take just a few minutes to fill out our Utilities Survey:

Understanding where you stand is so important in helping build this campaign from the ground up. So thank you for sounding off today.
