Senate Judiciary Committee passes Senator Whitehouse’s Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, and Transparency Act

donate

Big news: The Senate Judiciary Committee just passed Sheldon’s bill to implement a binding code of ethics at the Supreme Court. We’re one major step closer to getting this done.

After months of cascading reports of ethical scandals involving the justices — from Republican billionaire-sponsored free luxury fishing trips in Alaska to a Republican billionaire-sponsored private yacht vacation worth over $500,000 — paired with decisions that serve the Republican billionaire class, it's become pretty clear to the American people that something is wrong. Bringing the Court's ethics and disclosure rules into line with the other branches of the federal government and other federal judges is long overdue.

Sheldon was leading the fight for ethics reform at the Supreme Court long before these scandals came to light. For years, he’s been working to reveal the special interest funders who lobby the Court so the American people can know whether the justices are serving the country or big money interests.

Americans deserve basic accountability and transparency from the Supreme Court. Passing the SCERT Act will make sure that happens. If you can, please contribute today to support Senator Whitehouse’s work to restore the integrity of the Supreme Court.

Thank you,

Team Whitehouse
